I was passing through the electronics section of a large retail store the other day picking up some batteries when I overheard a conversation between a customer and an employee of the store. The customer appeared to have purchased a basic VCR player a few days prior and was back in the store asking the employee a ton of basic operating questions. What the employee said to the customer next was astounding, straightforward and yet very true indeed! The employee politely asked the customer, “Sir, did you read the operating manual that came with the VCR? Most of your questions have already been answered in the manual.” The customer then replied, “You know what, I never even considered reading the manual. I just plugged it in and became frustrated when I couldn’t get things to work right out of the box. Thank you for your help!”
When I heard this conversation take place, I immediately thought about the countless emails, phone calls, instant messages and posts in our ball python forum from people asking similar questions. Questions that are more than likely already answered in any ball python book, care sheet or this website for that matter. I feel confident in saying that we have the most information and resources available on ball pythons that one could ever imagine, right here at RCReptiles.com. If you don’t have a ball python and plan on purchasing one in the near future, it’s in your best interest and that of your ball python that you learn the basic care requirements at a minimum before you bring one into your home. Read the ball python care sheet, understand the housing needs of a ball python (heating, hides, humidity, etc) before you even purchase one. After you’ve done your due diligence and have a firm understanding of the “do’s and don’ts” of keeping a ball python the right and responsible way, go ahead and purchase one!
A ball python is one of the best pet snakes you could ever dream of owning so do your future companion a well deserved favor and do the equivalent of reading the “operations manual” for it. If your ball python could speak, I’m sure it would say with much gratitude, “Thank you!” :-)
